PM Modi: Rs 15,000 crore to strengthen the health infrastructure in India to fight against Coronavirus

On 24th March 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced lockdown for 21 days to fight against the Coronavirus. He has asked the citizens to not fall for rumours and to support the central government to fight against Covid-19.

The virus is spreading so rapidly that despite all the preparedness, challenges continue to rise in certain countries. The lockdown began from the midnight of 24th March 2020. During the lockdown citizens aren't allowed to stepout of their homes.

PM Modi said that the nation will bear the financial consequences of the lockdown, but saving lives of every Indian is his biggest priority.

The central government has allocated Rs. 15000 crore for health infrastructure like beds, ventilators, paramedical training, etc.

All stores selling essential goods were opened in Puducherry on 25 March, 2020. As a relief measure to the poor, the government promised to provide Rs 2000 to each family holding ration cards. The money will be credited through direct benefit transfer system.

Ministry of Home Affairs has issued guidelines of effective measures & exceptions to the essential services during 21 days lockdown. There will be soon an MHA 24/7 hotline to assist states.

Earlier on 24th March 2020, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed the media saying that the government is very close to announcing an economic package to help sectors tide over the crisis. She announced various measures to help individuals and businesses with various statutory and regulatory compliance matters.

Coronavirus cases in India rise to 562

According to the Health Ministry data, the number of coronavirus cases in India rose to 562 on Wednesday (25/03/2020). According to the figures updated at 11.44 am. 40 people have been cured, discharged or migrated and 9 deaths has been reported.

The figure includes 43 foreign nationals and the 9 deaths reported so far.
