Genetically Modified Foods (GMF) are foods which are altered by adding genes in plants. Crops can be genetically modified to add taste and nutrition, which makes them grow with ease. It has been available since the 1990s and are most often associated with fruits and vegetables or animals from another organism.
The mechanism of crossing species may lead to the development of new supposedly enhanced traits that were previously difficult or even impossible to be obtained naturally.
Genetically modified foods are no danger than conventional foods.
According to WHO, this process involves artificially introducing new traits to the original genetic material of the plant in a laboratory, applying methods of genetic engineering and biotechnology.
Genetically Modified Foods has a variety of crops in that cotton and corn are the most popular. A bacterium called Bacillus thuringiensis is added to such food.
Some scientists have suggested that DNA from GMF can be transferred into human body cells, which makes it menacing for human use. It also forms new types of allergies, which may cause severe sensitivity reactions and even toxic to customers.
