Punjab Road Tax

The Punjab Transportation Department is operated by the State Transport Commissioner who is assisted by additional state transportation commissioner, such as - Joint State Transport Commissioner, Deputy Controller, Deputy State Transport Commissioner, Automobile Engineer and Assistant Transport Commissioner in the head office. The Punjab road tax comes under Section 213 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988.

Road Tax Calculation

Road Tax on Two Wheelers

The two-wheelers road tax is considered on the vehicle that has been registered prior to the amendment of Punjab Motor Vehicles

The road tax for two-wheelers are as follows:

Under three years of age Rs. 120 Rs.400
Age between 3 years to 6 years Rs. 90 Rs. 300

Road Tax on Four Wheelers

Road tax for four-wheelers is considered on the vehicle registered prior to the amendment of Punjab Motor Vehicle Taxation Act 1986.

The tax rates are as follows:

Online Payment Procedure

To pay road tax online in Punjab, one should follow these simple steps mentioned below:

  • Visit Punjab Transport website - olps[dot]punjabtransport[dot]org
  • Click on Online Motor Vehicle Payment System
  • Enter the credentials such as login id and password
  • Click on the login button
  • If you are a new user, then click on New User option
  • Enter the valid details asked on the screen
  • Then, pay the tax through Net banking or Debit/Credit card. Keep the Receipt for your future references
