ICICI Prudential Bluechip Fund and HDFC Top 100 Fund both belong to the large-cap category of Equity Funds. ICICI Prudential Bluechip Fund (earlier known as ICICI Prudential Focused Bluechip Equity Fund) is an open-ended Large cap fund that was launched on May 23, 2008. This scheme is managed by ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund. ICICI Prudential Bluechip Fund uses Nifty 50 Index as its benchmark index to construct its Portfolio. The scheme's objective is to attain growth in the Capital in the long-term by predominantly Investing in equity and equity-related instruments of companies belonging to the large-cap domain. The scheme follows a benchmark hugging strategy which ensures that the portfolio is well-diversified thereby reducing the overall risk. As on March 31, 2018, some of the constituents of the scheme’s portfolio included Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Eicher Motors Limited, ICICI Bank Limited, and Larsen & Toubro Limited.
HDFC Top 100 Fund (earlier known as HDFC Top 200 Fund) is an open-ended Mutual Fund scheme offered by HDFC Mutual Fund under the large-cap category. This scheme was launched in the year 1996. For constructing the portfolio, HDFC Top 100 Fund uses S&P BSE 200 as its primary benchmark and S&P BSE Sensex as its additional benchmark. The objective of HDFC Top 100 Fund is to generate capital appreciation in the long-term from a portfolio of equity and equity-related instruments from the companies belonging to BSE 200 Index. The risk appetite of the scheme is moderately high. HDFC Top 100 Fund is jointly managed by Mr. Rakesh Vyas and Mr. Prashant Jain. Some of the top 10 constituents of HDFC Top 100’s portfolio as on March 31, 2018, consisted of, State Bank of India, Reliance Industries Limited, ITC Limited, and Tata Consultancy Services.
Though both ICICI Prudential Bluechip Fund and HDFC Top 100 Fund belong to the same category of large-cap schemes, yet, there exist differences between both of them. As on April 16, 2018, the NAV of ICICI Prudential Bluechip Fund was approximately INR 40 while of HDFC Top 100 Fund is approximately INR 444. Being the second section, here, the CAGR or Compounded Annual Growth Rate returns between both the schemes are compared. These returns are compared at different time intervals such as 3 Month Return, 6 Month Return, 3 Year Return, and 5 Year Return. Being the last section in comparison, the various elements forming part of this section include AUM, minimum SIP investment, minimum lumpsum investment, and so on. With respect to the AUM comparison it can be said that, as on March 31, 2018, the AUM of ICICI Prudential Bluechip Fund is approximately INR 16,102 crores and of HDFC Top 100 Fund as on February 28, 2018, is approximately INR 15,250 crores. The minimum SIP investment amount is different for both the schemes. for ICICI Mutual Fund’s scheme the SIP amount is INR 1,000 and for HDFC Mutual Fund is INR 500.
