Ways of Blocking SBI Debit Card

If your SBI Debit Card is lost or stolen, you must block at the earliest to prevent any fraudulent activities. You can block the card in any one of the following ways.

1. Calling the Customer Care Number

One of the easiest ways of blocking your SBI Debit Card is by calling the customer care number. You can Call at the toll free:

• 1800 425 3800

• SBI ATM block number is also provided - 080 2659 9990. You will receive instructions from the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS), which needs to be followed carefully.

The toll-free number is accessible from all landlines and mobile phones. You can contact the customer care any time as these numbers are available 24x7 to block your SBI debit card.

2. SBI ATM block by SMS

You can also block the card via SMS in the following manner:

• Firstly, you need to generate SBI ATM block number by sending an SMS - BLOCK XXXX' to 567676. Here the XXXX will be the last four digits of your SBI debit card
• The block number that is generated should be carefully saved
• You should also remember your SBI debit card number to block it if it is lost or misplaced. Ideally, you can write in a book and keep it safe

Note- While sending SMS, ensure your send from the same number which is registered with the SBI Bank.

3. Blocking SBI ATM Card by Mobile Banking

• Download the ‘SBI Mobile Banking App’ on your mobile phone and register yourself by providing the necessary details
• On the 'Home Screen,' you will need to select the 'Services' option
• The ‘Services’ option will have all details about your SBI debit card. Under this option, select the 'Debit Card Hotlisting'
• You need to select the Account number associated with the ATM card. Be careful while selecting the account number
• Following which you will be asked the debit card you want to block associated with the particular account number
• In the last step, you will have to give a reason for blocking the ATM card. You can select either ‘Lost’ or ‘Stolen’ as the reason for blocking it
• To finally complete, you will receive a One Time Password (OTP) on your registered mobile number
• Once you enter the OTP, your SBI ATM card will be blocked

The online mobile banking process is one of the simplest methods for blocking your SBI ATM card.

4. Blocking SBI ATM Card through Online Banking

You can also block your SBI ATM card by logging onto the official website of SBI Bank and follow the given steps:

• Log into your profile by entering the User Name and Password.
• Go to the ‘e-Services’ tab and click onto the ‘ATM Card Services Option'
• Here you will find an option that says ‘Block ATM Card'
• Select the account to which the ATM card that you wish to block is linked
• When you log into the account, you can see all the active ATM cards in your account
• Select the ATM card that you want to block
• You will have to give the reason as to why you wish to block the ATM card
• Select the reason either 'Lost' or 'Stolen' and then click on 'Submit.'
• Here, you will be asked to select a mode to authenticate the request - either OTP or by using Profile Password
• Once you authenticate the request, the SBI ATM card will be blocked
• You will receive an SMS confirming that the card has been blocked

However, you must remember that if you block an ATM card through Internet banking, you cannot unblock the card through online banking.

Unblocking your SBI Debit Card

The process of unblocking the card is not complicated, but cannot be done online or through mobile banking.

• You can call the customer care number to know more about the process
• You can also visit your SBI home branch to unblock your SBI ATM card
• You will need fill the application form for unblocking your the card. Ensure you fill all the details correctly, otherwise the form will be rejected
• While filling the form, give the details such as the Account Number, CIF Number, and the last four digits of the lost card correctly
• You will have to attach your photo identity in the form
• When you have completed filling the application form, submit the form to the bank officer
• Once all details have been checked, the card will be unblocked within 24 hours. You will also receive an SMS regarding the unblocking of the ATM card
