Road Tax in Assam is determined by the Assam Motor Vehicle Taxation Schedule. The factors that determine the tax to be paid include weight, model, engine capacity and the fuel used. Road tax is a one-time payment that is paid to the state government.
The transport department imposes a one-time road tax, which is equal to a certain percentage of the original cost of the vehicle. All vehicle owners should pay tax before registering the vehicle. In case you have electric cars and bikes the government may reduce the tax.

Note: Vehicle register in a different state and the owner wants to re-register in Assam should pay road tax, which is calculated by taking Depreciation into account. A depreciation of 7% per year is allowed to keep the cost of the vehicle of the same weight. This one-time tax is valid for 15 years with an amount of Rs. 500 to Rs. 1000 should be paid once every 5 years.
The road tax for 4 wheeler in Assam is computed by taking original cost of the vehicle.

A vehicle owner has to pay road tax at the Regional Transport Office in Assam. Fill a form in which RTO provides. Upon the payment, you will receive a Challan as the payment proof.
