Patrick James Cummins aka Pat Cummins is an Australian cricketer and is the co-vice-captain of the Australia national team in all formats. He is the most expensive overseas player acquired in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction history. He was acquired for Rs. 15.50 crore
by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for IPL 2020.
Cummins made his first test debut when he was 18 years old. In 2014, Cummins was acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders, but in 2017, Delhi Daredevils acquired him for 4.5 crores. In 2018, he was acquired for Rs. 5.4 crores.

Cummins is one of the best players in Australia. Cummins was named as the Test cricketer of the year by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in January 2020. In the same year, he was also named as one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year for his strong performances.
Before he could play first-grade cricket for Penrith in 2010, he played junior cricket for the Glenbrook Blaxland Cricket Club in Blue Mountains, Australia. In the Twenty20 final of 2010-2011, Cummins was named as the Man of the Match in the bash against Tasmania.
In October 2011, Cummins played two twenty20 Internation (T20I) match for Australia against South Africa. His performance was so good that he was selected in the Test squad to play South Africa.
He made his test debut in November 2011 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. This was his fourth career first-class match, which made him Australia’s youngest Test cricketer after Ian Craig. His performance also made him the second-youngest Test cricketer to take six wickets in an innings. Before him, the only one to have achieved this feat was Enamul Haque Jr. In the same match, he won the Man of the Match award.
After a series of severe injuries, Cummins returned to Test cricket in March 20177. This time Cummins established himself as a handy lower-order batsman, scoring two scores in the 40s during The Ashes series. In a game against South Africa A, he scored his 2nd first-class half-century.
In 2019, Cummins became one of the two vice-captains for Australia. The other was Travis Head. Cummins played for the Sri Lanka tour of Australia in 2018-19 and finished the series with 14 wickets. This earned him the name as the Man of the Series.
In the same year, he played T20I against India. Cummins was named as one of the squad members for Australia in the Cricket World Cup 2019. In the same year, Cummins played his 50th One Day Internation (ODI) against West Indies.
In the 2019 Ashes Series in England, Cummins was named as the leading wicket-taker with 29 across 5 matches at 19.62. That is when he was awarded the Allan Border Medal.
In 2020, Cummins took his 100th wicket in ODI cricket in the first match against South Africa.
