Taxation on Two-wheelers

The road tax for two-wheeler is based on the age of the vehicle.

The Vahan tax is as follows:

Age of Vehicle One-time Tax Applicable
Brand new vehicle (first-time registration) 9% of the original cost of the vehicle
Vehicles registered for less than 2 years 8% of the original cost of the vehicle
Between 2 and 3 years 7% of the original cost of the vehicle
Between 3 and 4 years 6% of the original cost of the vehicle
Between 4 and 5 years 5% of the original cost of the vehicle
Between 5 and 6 years 4% of the original cost of the vehicle
Between 6 and 7 years 3.5% of the original cost of the vehicle
Between 7 and 8 years 3% of the original cost of the vehicle
Between 8 and 9 years 2.5% of the original cost of the vehicle
Between 9 and 10 years 2% of the original cost of the vehicle
Between 10 and 11 years 1.5% of the original cost of the vehicle
Above 11 years 1% of the original cost of the vehicle

The above-mentioned table is applicable to every two-wheeler in the state of Telangana including scooters.

The tax for four-wheelers are based on the age and pricing of the vehicle.

Road Tax Payment in Telangana

You can pay the road tax at the nearest Regional Transport Office (RTO). The concern representative will give you a form, fill it and pay the tax applicable as per the category of vehicle. After the payment, the RTO will provide an acknowledgement document. Keep it safe for future references.

Penalty Charges

If a person owning a vehicle in the state of Telangana fails to pay the road tax, the concerned authorities will impose a penalty, which is the double of the tax.
